Product Care

To keep your item looking its best, avoid contact with water. If your item gets wet, remove any excess moisture without rubbing, dab with a soft cloth and let dry at room temperature.

If your item accumulates dirt, rub gently with a soft, lightly damp cloth.

Each leather is individual and over time you may start to notice creases or irregularities occur; this is part of the natural ageing process.

How to apply water-based varnish

  • Sand lightly the wooden surface to remove dirt. Sanding is to work with the grain of the wood; cross-grain sanding can leave permanent and very obvious scratches
  • Wipe the wooden surface clean with a tack cloth
  • Thin the varnish with 5%-10% clean water and stir well before use
  • Using the non-scratching surface of a scrub sponge, apply the varnish onto the wood in long, smooth moves. Paint along the grain of the wood
  • Allow the first coat of varnish to dry for about 8 hours. Do not move the object at this point, or else you may get fingerprints or other marks in the varnish
  • If, after drying, the surface is not smooth yet, sand  lightly the object again. Do not wear away the freshly applied varnish, only slightly rough up the finish
  • Apply the varnish just as you did for the first coat
